World Seas Day of September 30, 2021
The International Maritime Organization, of which our country is a member along with 163 other states, celebrates World Seas Day every September 30
The theme chosen this year is entitled: « Seafarers, at the heart of tomorrow’s maritime transport » to highlight the vital role that humans play in maritime transport, maritime safety and the marine environment as well as their well-being in the face of the evolution of digitization and automation.
It is also an opportunity to specify the difference between this celebration and that of World Oceans Day, which is much more focused on raising awareness of the sensitivity of the oceans, their fundamental role and the preservation of their natural resources.
We encourage the actors of the maritime sector for their multifaceted efforts for the development of the maritime sector to which the PR Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé attaches very great importance.
